adult education movie review educating rita - Sexual Education-1

Russell's movie rewrite has added mistresses, colleagues, husbands, in-laws, students and a faculty committee, all unnecessary. To the degree that "Educating Rita" does work, the credit goes to Michael Caine, who plays a man weary and kind, funny and self-hating. Audience Reviews for Educating Rita Jan 10, The intimacy of the play is ruined by the film's worthless expansion of it's world (who cares about anyone else except for Rita and Frank?) so even 80%.

Nov 12,  · Based on Willy Russell's successful stage play, Educating Rita is inspirational but spiky enough to retain the rough edges that keep it grounded and realistic. It explores weighty themes (alcoholism, social isolation, suicide) but never gets bogged down in them.4/5. Sep 21,  · It is not a British version of MY FAIR LADY (, 6/10), EDUCATING RITA goes a bit higher than that, it is about how literature can improve one’s listless life and transfigure one’s entire bearing from within. Rita, aka Susan White (Walters) is a year-old hairdresser, married to an52%(9). "Educating Rita" is an unknown little gem with a dramatic and funny story about culture clash and improvement of life status through education. The plot partially recalls the storyline of "Pigmalion" or "My Fair Lady" with the change of behavior of Rita through the education.

The second act is far more dramatic as Frank and Rita readjust to each other on a new level. Frank seeing Rita grow is like a parent coming to see that their adult child is in fact an adult. Educating Rita is a rare film in that education is the goal of the main character. Rita is common but she has her sights on improving herself. Educating Rita is a charming little British movie staring the LEGENDS Julie Walters and Michael Caine and tells a quaint yet exceedingly heart warming story. It’s got that British wit and brazen quality that makes the action appear totally real and that just makes you connect even more with the story.
