About the Adult Education Program: We offer free classes in convenient locations and flexible schedules (morning, afternoon and evening) taught by highly qualified teachers. An adult-centered curriculum based on the Texas Adult Education Content Standards centered . The General Education Development (GED) program helps adult students earn their high school equivalency certificate. Teachers help students age 18 or older prepare for the GED test in four subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. Students learn from teachers in class and online with computer programs.
If the individual scores less than on a subject they must enroll in the Adult Program for 15 hours of remediation. Once the remediation hours are completed the individual will be given a retake of the GED Ready to earn or better. When the passing score is earned the individual is now eligible to receive the free GED test voucher. The Horry County Adult Education program offers a variety of programs for adults including High School Diplomas, GED testing, SC virtual program, family literacy and WorkKeys certifications.
